Last Of Us Part 2 is a terrible video game in one or more respects

The Last Of Us Part 2 – Non-Interactive Storytelling (Photo: Sony)

One reader claims that the storytelling of The Last Of Us Part 2 is good, but the lack of interactivity makes video games poor.

I read the features of recent readers, Red Dead Redemption 2 is very interesting and boring because I fully agreed, but never publicly acknowledged it for fear of being yelled at. But this encouraged me and made my own statement against the accepted wisdom: our last part 2 is a really bad video game.

Obviously, it’s not a badly made video game. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Last Of Us Part 2 may be the best game ever in terms of production value. Includes graphics, narracion, and the weight of spit and polish. It looks and sounds great, but its gameplay isn’t that good, as even enthusiastic fans are happy to admit it.

it’s fine. It’s competent. However, it’s a minor variation of Uncharted in itself, exactly the same as the first game, which wasn’t quite noticeable compared to other third-person shooters. Shootouts are okay, movements are okay, but none of them are interesting or unusual, and the menu interface is awkward and awkward for no good reason. It’s very clear that no one in Naughty Dog is particularly interested in gameplay, which I find difficult to understand given that they are making video games.

Except for them, really? Naughty Dog makes interactive films, especially when it comes to The Last Of Us. Not in the old FMV sense, but in terms of game priorities and attitude towards interactivity. Last Of Us Part 2 not only treats gameplay as a secondary concern, but also the player. The game is praised for its storytelling, but the storytelling is completely non-interactive and plays the same no matter what you do.

You can’t make decisions and you can’t influence the story. This defeats the overall point of being a video game in the first place. Sony has produced a TV show for The Last Of Us with Naughty Dog staff as a writer, but I’m pretty sure this is a good thing as nothing is lost.

The reason video game movies are always terrible is that removing the interaction of playing games from the equation usually doesn’t leave enough to enjoy, but with The Last Of Us, it’s forgotten. Only repeated shots will be lost. Stealth, it’s done better in 12 other games.

One thing Naughty Dog isn’t interested in gameplay is. It’s not a problem. With a focus on storytelling, there are many great games with little gameplay. Games like What Remains Of Edith Finch are great. That’s because traditional gameplay isn’t very common, but it takes advantage of the fact that you’re playing games to constantly change the world and how it travels in ways that other media couldn’t. Also, it’s only 2 hours.

Does Last Us Part 2 last more than 25 hours and feel every minute by God? Even Zack Snyder didn’t make a movie that long. I was able to read quite a few novels at the time, but Naughty Dog doesn’t know when to stop or cut out the nonsensical side events that seem to be there to increase execution time. (I wouldn’t be surprised if this required Sony to keep the game to a minimum length to avoid complaints about the value of money, but that’s a pure guess on my part.)

If you see someone else playing The Last Of Us Part 2 on Twitch, you won’t lose anything from that experience. This indicates that this was rarely counted as a game and probably shouldn’t have been one.The world of video games is full of frustrated filmmakers who seem resentful at the fact that they are them only I make video games, so I’m always trying to change them to something else.

The Last Of Us Part 2 has a great story, and for those who say they’re really influenced, I agree that storytelling is good (it’s clear that the writer sympathizes more than Erie deserves. But). But none of them benefit from being a video game. If it were a movie, it would have been exactly the same. In fact, it would have been better because it was pretty short and almost certainly the pace was good. Hell, even TV shows, are unlikely to be longer than 6 or 8 hours in total, and are still only a small part of the length of the game.

Video games are interactive, and that’s exactly what they define, but the interactive element isn’t the most interesting part of The Last Of Us Part 2. All good things happen when you’re not doing anything. That’s for me. This is a sign of a bad video game and is a designer who wants to stop doing other things, such as making an HBO TV show.
