The League of Legends (LoL) Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is set to return in 2021 and the international tournament is reportedly heading to Reykjavik, Iceland.

Image after deletion displayed in The weekend LoLEsports Media website seems to be leaking the location of this year’s event, which is currently being confirmed, according to Fomos.

MSI 2021 will be held from May 6th to 22nd at the Roygardal Shell Sports Center in the Icelandic capital.

MSI typically invites top teams from each region to participate in tournaments during the spring and summer seasons.

Last year’s event was canceled due to a coronavirus pandemic. After most countries were blocked, the only event to be held directly in 2020 was the World Championships.

The team will be quarantined upon arrival in Iceland and there will be no direct spectators at the stadium.

A total of 16 diseases have occurred in Iceland in the last two weeks, according to the latest data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

Travelers must show a recent negative COVID test before boarding a flight to Iceland and upon arrival. It then undergoes a double COVID inspection procedure, during which it is required to be quarantined for 5-6 days.

Fomos reports that all teams will start from the main event as there is no spare play-in stage this year.

In Stage 1, 12 teams will be divided into 3 groups, and the top 2 teams in each group will advance to Stage 2. These teams will face each other in a double-round robin format, sending four teams to the next stage.

After that, there will be two semi-finals leading to the final, and each match will be the best five single eliminations.

The prize pool has not yet been announced, but the prize pool MSI 2019 was $ 250,000 (£ 180,000).
