During a doubles match in Linz, Austria, hopes for Sabine Lisicki to make a comeback after tearing the left anterior cruciate ligament on Monday were shattered.
I have already had surgery [and] Everything was fixed by the best doctors. Will be long [and] It’s a very difficult road, but I’m lucky to be surrounded by the best medical team! Sabine Lisick
A former Wimbledon finalist from Germany has been suffering from injuries in recent years and was trying to rebuild her form when the injuries occurred.
“I have already had surgery [and] Everything was fixed by the best doctors, “Lisicki wrote on Instagram. “It will be long [and] It’s a very difficult road, but I’m lucky to be surrounded by the best medical team! “
Lisicki lost in qualifying for a singles event in Linz, won three consecutive games at the Prague Open, and achieved the best run since 2018 after playing in the World Team Tennis Series in the United States in July.
Lisicki lost to Marion Bartoli in the 2013 Wimbledon final and in 2012 won the 12th highest career ranking in the world.
Her current ranking is 690th, reflecting the relatively low number of tournament appearances in the last two years.
