Today is that day. The next generation of Madden is officially here (it certainly started yesterday, but it seemed like a strange surprise)!So now I’m doing the usual thing and I’ll explain what’s different Madden 21 Next generation and last generation.
When I first started writing this article, the details of what this leap into next-generation games would entail were sparse. There is no full video of the actual gameplay, and even some of the screenshots may have been enhanced to showcase the power of the system. Most of the information we got came from OS previews via Bob and EA developers.
Nevertheless, the release date is with us.And we probably have to wait until Madden 22 To see the “perfect” difference between the current generation and the next generation, here’s what EA is currently promoting:
Next Generation Statistics and Player Movement
One of the biggest additions to the Next Generation Madden is the presence of the NFL’s Next Generation Statistics. The official EA website states the partnership between the two:
“Using the power of the NFL NextGen Stats, the Next Gen Player Movement is backed by real-world athlete data, route paths and acceleration, and the next-generation Madden NFL is the most realistic, authentic and fluid player movement in the franchise. History. Feel the most elite NFL athletes in every position moving through the virtual field as they would in the real world. “
Yes, you will see next generation statistics in various overlays and replays. However, the bigger change is how this affects player performance. So far, I’ve felt that the movements of the players are very different, so now I’m trying to understand how different players feel. Games generally feel slow, so that too needs to be adjusted now.
In general, whatever the next-generation statistics are, the difference in behavior between generations seems to be the biggest issue today.
The player actually takes a better route (or at least a more rounded / realistic route). This should also change the way players attack the ball (currently more 50/50 play, beating big receivers). There may be more to this, but again, these are just early impressions from the community.
Anyway, I don’t think it’s necessary to explain how important it is to have a wide receiver that runs the route like a real counterpart. Many of these improvements can be noticed by the player cutting the field. Or take a more accurate route than we are used to. And sure, we can all sit here and ask, “Why is this the only thing we’re seeing when you’ve had exclusivity for years?” See how it works and hope it will be the first step into the future.

Previous: In the previous generation, the receiver always ran from one point to another at maximum speed, making very similar cuts, but with little difference between unique players.
rear: In the next generation, player ratings and archetypes will have a significant impact on the quality and speed of each route, running as a whole route from start to finish, rather than individual parts of the previous generation route.
The EA also promises prototype-specific movements that capture these particular body shapes.

All of these additions to the game also affect defense. Corners need to play the ball in the air, trail coverage, improve tracking angles, improve tackle, and more. This is what fans have been asking for over the last few years. But it doesn’t just improve player movement. The player build has been improved and the equipment has been tuned to better reflect what we’ve seen in the past.
I think what’s very exciting about the possibilities here is the fact that it’s in the early stages of the process. And while the upgrade to Madden 21 may not be breathtaking, next year’s game is the most impressive.
Next-generation enhancements, replays, celebrations, etc.
(First, it’s a shame because the “leap” to the crowd above seems to be basically the same cutscene in all stadiums.)
Most of the improvements to the next generation Madden will be heavily influenced by the addition of next generation statistics. So if I sound like a broken record, please forgive me. As mentioned above, this is definitely a game changer if done correctly. But it doesn’t just affect gameplay. We also see improvements in broadcast and replay presentations.
So far, the main problem with these replays is that they don’t feel diverse enough. They are very clean and the overlays look great, but they tend to be top speed, air yards, or yard after catch. I’ve seen some replays that have time to throw, but in general I feel that replays need more variety and depth. Seeing how far the receivers are in play or how much air DeAndre Hopkins has gained with his Hale Murray catch will be an example of how to give more love to the area in the future.
Don’t forget to improve the bystanders. This will show you the players you belong to instead of the average player who lost an unrecognized number of lives. Again, this may not be as deep as we expected. Still, I love more side reactions and more player fidelity, but it’s a clear improvement over the current generation.
Players are now on the sidelines of their position groups and are usually in what they should be.
From here, the EA implements more crowd celebrations, more interaction on the sidelines (more cheering when the player is playing, more interaction when the player exceeds the limit, etc.) You can start doing it, and maybe even put the reference back in the field.
Finally, they also revamped the playcall screen. It’s a little overwhelming and may take some getting used to, but once you get used to it, you generally like new organizations.
Next-generation visuals, controls and audio
I’m not pretending to know how powerful both systems are and the slight differences between the two systems. After all, this means improvements in graphics, rendering, shading, lighting, weather, and sweat. With the new trigger on the PS5 controller, you can feel reliable in every play. Feel the ball falling into your hand, feel the pressure as the kicker attempts a field goal to connect the game, and feel the impact of a trembling hit.
The sound has also been updated, but I haven’t shot it Madden 21 Still through that pace with good surround sound settings. In any case, what the EA is promoting is:
- The crowd placement data, which provides one-to-one fidelity of the crowd members in the stand, can be used to accurately position the cone output using the spatialization effect and the correct orientation. This means listening to the effects of spatialized Sound FX, especially when chatting or barking in the crowd. Audio is an undervalued attribute of the overall gaming experience, and with location-based audio, the audio soundscape is like a player on the field that really wraps you around, as in a stadium environment. You can feel it.
EA didn’t make many flashy changes to the next generation Madden 21 Given that this is a “free” upgrade from the current generation, this is almost what we expected.By comparison, I had to pay the full amount (and part) to play NBA 2K21 With the next generation console, so we were expecting more there. However, we will continue to monitor the addition of next-generation stats, improved player movement, enhanced gameplay, and a few other things.
There’s still a lot to do, which doesn’t make up for things like #FixMaddenFranchise, but in the past I’ve found console launches from EA and Madden much worse than this.
