If you’ve ever wanted a little more Master Chief taste in mahjong or solitaire games, Microsoft is good news for you. The Halo theme is now available in Microsoft versions of the two games.
The theme is free for all players and was designed by Halo developer 343 Industries. For solitaire on PC and mobile, the cards have been overhauled and all face cards now show the Hello character instead of the usual Jack, Queen, and King. Mobile-only mahjong gems have been modified to look like Halo’s multiplayer medals.
It may seem strange for Microsoft to target casual games like this, but solitaire and mahjong are very popular. Solitaire in particular is comically large. At Microsoft Solitaire’s 20th Anniversary Ceremony last year, the company announced that more than 35 million people are playing each month. Many of those people probably haven’t played many other Microsoft games yet, even though they’re already connected to the Xbox ecosystem. As a result, it’s a large pool of people touting Microsoft’s monopoly-and these themes are an easy way to raise awareness.
Halo Infinite will be available on PC, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One on December 8th, with many other promotions ahead of its release. For example, eating Pringles and Pop-Tarts will earn you Double XP in multiplayer mode, which you can play for free. Along the way, there is a halo-themed Monster Energy drink. The next beta version of Halo Infinite will start on September 24th. Check out our guide on how to sign up for Halo Infinite Beta.
