Lucy Hitchcock’s small business, Partner in Wine, was launched during the 2020 pandemic and manufactures wine-shaped bottles and tumblers designed to keep drinks chilled for 24 hours.

“On my way home, I certainly sympathized with me, had something to keep a full bottle of wine cool, and started to think that there was a good looking brand out there, but in all these boxes. Nothing with a checkmark was found. ”

The company manufactures wine-shaped bottles and tumblers with insulation technology that allows wine lovers to keep their drinks cool 24 hours a day on the go.

The material means that hot liquids can be kept at the desired temperature for up to 12 hours, making it ideal for mulled wine in cold weather.

Within two weeks of its launch in July, it already had triple-digit sales, and in November it sold every hour.

December sales grew tremendously by 699% month-on-month as consumers picked up products as Christmas gifts.

Lucy added: ‘The special thing about Partnerin Wine is that it was born in difficult times for many and helps bring a little joy to their lives.

“People have recently begun to see the beauty of picnics, and wine partners make the experience much easier.

“Our customers say they can rest assured that they will have a socially distant drink during a pandemic.”

Short-term cost

Already founded entrepreneur Lucy owns Sassy Digital, a digital marketing agency founded six years ago.

This meant that the marketing costs of Partner in Wine were covered and her brother, a graduate of product design, helped her in the product development phase.

She was able to raise her own money for the first stock and used that profit to fund the second stock.

She states: “This means higher unit prices at first, but I know it will be best in the long run.

“I don’t think we need any external investment for now, but who knows? We’ve seen tremendous growth in the last few months, boosted by the online sales boom. We’re very Being young, playing is everything. ”

Towards growth

Currently, you can choose from 6 colors for both bottles and tumblers. The company also released the Rose Pink Edition, especially for Valentine’s Day.

The success that partners have experienced so far has encouraged Lucy to think proactively, even though it’s been less than a year old.

She states: “Even after a pandemic, people are happy to meet their loved ones at a picnic in the summer, so I think they spend more time in the park than they do in the park.

Good weather is often fun and is a more affordable option than an afternoon in the beer garden!

“I think this kind of product is a necessity holiday. In the future, we would like to consider sustainable initiatives that help reduce waste, such as using bottles instead of ice buckets and filling bottles from chilled barrels in hot hotels.

But even if her goals and dreams are for a new business baby, Lucy knows the people who know her customers best. Many come from social media.

Partner in Wine uses features such as voting to ask Instagram followers, for example, what they want to see next.

“We are currently working on a new product for 2022 that focuses on both alcohol and picnics, but we would like to continue to increase brand awareness and customer base before taking the next step.” She added.

“We have found that we are a very customer-centric business and at this point they really only want newer colors.”

Instagram accounts for 90% of Wine’s sales partners. This is what Lucy expected because of the “Instagrammable nature” of the product.

Courage of belief

One of the things Lucy didn’t expect was how far the business would go. Customers come from all over the world including Singapore, Australia, USA, France and Italy.

She wants to go further and expand sales and marketing in other areas of demand. Market research and social media analysis have helped resolve this type of information.

“I teach many female entrepreneurs I work with at Sassy Digital, not only to achieve marketing and business goals, but also to build confidence.”

“If you really believe your idea is good, it shines in everything you do, but you have to make sure that you maximize the chances of your business succeeding. not.

“This means investing in areas that are important to the ideal customer. For example, I always intended to spend time on branding and marketing.”
