MGE Launches Badger Hollow Solar Project in Wisconsin

First phase of Madison Gas and Electric(MGE) Badger Hollow Solar Farm is now online, supplying the power grid with sustainable energy generated in the region.

Jeff Kaye, Chairman, President and CEO of MGE, said: “This is a great addition to our generational mix, along with the Two Creeks Solar project. Both of these major PV facilities continue to reduce carbon emissions, meet sustainable energy goals and reach their sustainable energy goals. It plays an important role in helping to achieve net zero carbon power. “

Located near the Montfort and Cobb communities in Iowa County, Wisconsin, MGE owns Phase I of the 50 MW Badger Hollow Solar Farm. Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) owns the remaining 100 MW. MGE’s 50 MW share is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 16,500 households.

Construction continues in the second phase of the Badger Hollow Solar Farm’s 150 MW. MGE owns 50 MW Phase II and WPS owns 100 MW. MGE has reduced carbon emissions by 30% since 2005 and expects to achieve at least 65% carbon reduction by 2030. Between 2015 and 2024.
