MO land expropriation law passed House Committee

The Missouri House Judiciary Committee has passed the Land Acquisition Act to the House of Representatives. The bill, sponsored by Congressman Mike Huffner, limited the ability of private groups to expropriate land for expropriation.

The Missouri Livestock Association praises this move. Mike Deering, Missouri’s vice president of cattle herders, said land expropriation was intended to be a last resort, but it was the first option for private companies to acquire “cheap” land.

The bill passed the committee with five to four votes, and Deering calls for a swift passage of the bill.
