In its latest Nintendo Direct presentation, Capcom officially announced Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a new extension of the Switch limited edition last March.
A “major” expansion is planned for summer 2022 on both Nintendo Switch and PC, with new stories, locales, and monsters per Quick Teaser trailer. Although not shown in the trailer, the expansion also includes hunting actions and quest ranks.
“As introduced in the debut trailer, the eerie new settings serve as a background for menacing new monsters,” said the official press release. “For more information on this new monster and other exciting new gameplay, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be shared shortly.”
Indeed, after the stream we Have learned Capcom’s upcoming TGS stream will have more information about Sunbreak. It will be held on September 30th at 6am (Eastern Standard Time) / 9am (Eastern Standard Time).
The official Capcom blog on expansion doesn’t provide any further details, but it makes fun of more content coming soon to Monster Hunter Rise, including another collaboration with an external Capcom franchise. The game has already partnered with Street Fighter and Mega Man in the last few months.
Monster Hunter Rise was first launched in March 2021. Sunbreak marks the first major expansion of the game and reflects the Iceborn expansion to Monster Hunter World in 2017.
