Monster Hunter Stories 2 tells a new story, and the original is not planned for switching

Monster Hunter Stories 2 was announced for Switch with Monster Hunter Rise and is scheduled for release in late 2021. The original Monster Hunter Stories was released for 3DS and mobile and was well received. With this in mind, fans may wonder if the first game will come to Switch and if it should be played before the sequel.

In an interview with Gamereactor, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained that the first game is unlikely to come to Switch. “At this point, we have no plans to bring the original Monster Hunter Story to Nintendo Switch,” he said, but reassure anyone worried about needing to know the plot of the first game in the sequel. I made it clear.

“With a whole new protagonist and a new story, I can calm that fear,” Tsujimoto said. “Although it is set in the same world, the game is fully designed to allow players to jump directly to Monster Hunter Stories 2.”

Some of the trailer icons below are familiar to fans of the first game, but beginners are fine.

Monster Hunter Rise will be released for Switch on March 26, 2021, before the Monster Hunter movie will be released on Christmas Day. 2021 should be a big year for Monster Hunter fans as long as they own the Switch.
