The· Indianapolis Colts Was in a potential win-loss situation in the 17th week. Jacksonville Jaguars.. Left tackle Anthony Castonzo was put on an IR at the end of the season due to an ankle injury, and his successor Will Holden also participated with his own ankle injury.
Eventually, Colts decided to work on Jarid Verdia to start on Sunday. Verdia has been a longtime veteran of the league and Green Bay Packers In last year’s playoffs. What happened to him who just retired off the street for this game? He was, in fact, surprisingly good for most of the afternoon. I’ll watch this movie today and see how well he played in this movie.
Run game straight bulldozer
I was absolutely shocked to review the movie in this game and see how well Verdia works in the run game. It’s not that he was a bad run blocker throughout his career or anything, just when I reviewed his past films I had never seen this level of domination in advance. From the first snap of the game, he was destroying the defensive lineman. In the first play of the game, he does a great job of reaching the athletic rookie K’Lavon Chaisson and getting to the ground while setting the edges.

The beauty of veteran offensive linemen is that they know the little tricks and tricks to find success in the league. Verdia did a great job in this play of using the defensive lineman’s momentum against him. He first demonstrated excellent athletic performance to players of his age by easily reaching three techniques. When you engage, you notice that the defensive harness is bowing down and trying to break through the block. Instead of using his energy to repel the attack, Verdia calms down the defensive harness and easily sends it to the ground.
I was most shocked by the strength Verdia demonstrated in this game. Looking at his frame, he dominated the player at the point of crazy attacks. He is a fairly witty and aggressive tackle that has length and height rather than size. If you just watched the Sunday match, you wouldn’t believe it at all. He reached Three Tech again in this play (I now know Doug Kostin), driving him in and out of the play and creating a huge lane to drive Naiheim Hines out. I will.
Overall, it was Verdia’s outstanding game in the run game, which was a major reason Jonathan Taylor was able to rush 253 yards in this game. He should be a starter next week based solely on his performance in the run game, just because of how good he was. Anthony Castonzo is a good left-handed tackle and has been active for many years, but at the time of the attack he was not capable of ousting such a defender. In Colts’ running game in Buffalo this week, Verdia can be huge.
A little unstable, but almost good with PassPro
There were some bad moments in Verdia’s pass protection in this game, but most of the time he was solid throughout the game. One of his worst moments was when he played Chaisson in the first quarter. Verdia is a quick setting for speedy pass rushers and does nothing wrong from the beginning. The problem arises when Chaisson is released from the phase by Veldheer’s punches and begins to bend corners. Verdia does not have enough lateral athleticism to move with this type of bend, resulting in a quarterback hit in play. He would have been okay if his first punch had been hit a bit harder, but he simply can’t allow the Quick Edge Rusher to get him this position.
Another problem I’ve seen from time to time in this game was that the edge rusher he was facing could sometimes get inside and be pushed back a bit. Verdia has a very large frame, so it’s a big target for pass rushers to hit. Chaisson can put his long arms inside here and put enough depth in his pocket Philip Rivers With this dropback. The main thing is that Verdia needs to raise their hands quickly and take advantage of his length. Fortunately he’s a veteran of the league, so I’m hoping to make some adjustments before the playoff game.
As mentioned at the beginning, he was almost solid throughout the game with pass protection. He looked comfortable with Colts’ aggressive passset and was in top shape when he put in a good punch and took advantage of his length. Another big advantage is that Colts loves quick pass games. This allows Verdia to win the first punch and the ball is usually out. I was completely happy with how he played in the pass pro for this game.
Overall, I was impressed with the attack that Verdia didn’t know how he played, especially in the first half of the match. The offensive tackle is one of the most important positions in the NFL, and it’s a big plus for Colts to get the right players in that position later this year.
When it comes to who should start in the playoffs game, there is no doubt that it should be Jarid Verdia. Will Holden was decent in both pass and run games with Pittsburgh, but Verdia gives much more in run blocking. Adding to Verdia’s good performance in last year’s playoffs, I don’t think it’s a headache as to who Colts should start with. Hopefully he will play this powerful against a really good soccer team this Saturday.
