Mustang joins Super2 with ZB Comodoa – Motorsports

The imminent introduction of Gen3 regulation has created many question marks about the short-term future of Tier 2.

Traditionally, Super2 has carried out previous evolutions of the main game car, creating a healthy second-hand market for hardware and providing experience related to young drivers.

However, the move to Gen3 means that there can be a relatively large gap between the two layers in terms of speed and cost. New cars are expected to be cheaper and slower due to reduced aerodynamics and power.

This has sparked speculation about the short-term future of Super2. Speaking of which, Super2 could move directly to Gen3 as well.

However, according to supercar CEO Sean Seamer, it plans to keep the trickle-down model of the existing car.

The main concern is to reduce the running costs of the current spec Mustang and ZB before they are farmed out to the Super2 team.

“That’s what we’re looking at right now. How do you manage the right costs for Super2?” Said Seamer.

“Cost issues related to [main series] Around usage and kilometers. Super2 doesn’t do that many kilometers. However, it is our duty to do what we can to control the costs of our Super2 competitors. We are currently working on it. “

Also being considered is how to ensure equivalence between the Mustang and ZB, as well as the FG-X Falcon, Nissan Altima and VF Commodore models currently used in the Super 2.

Another option is to shift down the current Super2 car to Super3 next year, which is complicated by the third tier, which is not officially owned by Supercars.

“How is it under consideration? [the main series] “Is the car likely to move to Super 2 or Super 3? The mechanism is under consideration, and we haven’t decided yet.” ..

“”[We’re considering] Compare the current Super2 car with the one that is down. The engine and brakes are all about the same. “
