Neil Druckmann, writer and creative director of The Last of Us series and Uncharted 4-, has given a new title to his work. Co-President of Naughty Dog.
The promotion was announced in a December 4th blog post on the Naughty Dog website, and current co-president Evan Wells states that Dragman had previously served as vice president of the studio for nearly three years.
“We have such a great team at Naughty Dog and it makes a lot of sense lately to be able to work with each of them,” Wells added. “I’m proud of the team when I was able to recognize their achievements and contributions to the studio.”
Prior to working at The Last of Us and Uncharted, Druckmann worked as a gameplay programmer at Jak3 and JakX: Combat Racing. He is also participating in the HBO The Last of Us series, which he is currently working on.
Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most acclaimed games of 2020, with particular admiration for storytelling and performance. Naughty Dog doesn’t suggest much about whether the next project is The Last of Us, Uncharted, or something else. The studio hasn’t released the game in a new franchise for over 7 years.
Whatever the next game, we probably won’t hear about it for a few years. There was a four-year gap between Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2, during which a small Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was released.
