New highway to reduce peak evening hours for carriers

An estimated 13,000 trucks will benefit from the new Mordialloc Freeway, which will be open to the public on Sunday.

Over the course of almost two years, the highway extension will connect the Mornington Peninsula Highway on Springvale Road in Aspendale Gardens to the Dingley Bypass in Dingley Village, with direct flights from Frankston. Create the first completely new highway since the Peninsula Link.

Five bridges have been built on Springvale, Governor, Lower Dandenon, Center Dandenon and Old Dandenon Road, and a sixth twin bridge has been built on the canal swamp to allow rainfall and natural light to reach the vegetation below.

Mordialloc Freeway cost about $ 523 million and used about 800,000 tonnes of recycled and recycled material.

It includes the world’s first recycled plastic noise barrier.

The Victoria State Government calls it Australia’s most environmentally friendly highway.

Recycled plastic is also used to reinforce the concrete of drainage pipes and shared walking and cycling paths. Also used are recycled asphalt glass, recycled concrete for road foundations, recycled asphalt pavement, and landscaping mulch made of pine pallets.
