New York Giants abandon CB Yaren Williams in injury settlement – NFL Sports

The New York Giants abandoned / injured cornerback Yaren Williams (Quad) earlier this week and returned to the injured list after he cleared the abandonment.

However, his stay on Williams’ list was short-lived. He and the team agreed to settle the injury and since then he has been exempt from IR.

The exempt Williams is now free to sign with each of the other 31 teams. He will not be able to re-sign with the Giants until another three weeks have passed in addition to the injury resolution period.

The 24-year-old Williams first signed Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted rookie from Albany last April, before landing in the Giants four months later. He spent most of the 2020 season on the team’s practice team, but was promoted to the active roster of two games in December.

In two career games, Williams took a snap of 17 special teams and recorded two tackles.
