Nik Lentz retires after defeat of UFC257

They say they don’t make a rush decision after a loss, but this is neither rush nor quick about that. The injury I saw last year was a career ender. I lost about 40% of my eyesight in total, but I wanted to see with a new eye what another fierce battle would look like. Last night it was clear that it was no longer possible for me to compete at this level.I couldn’t fix it to a moving target and 40% of my eyesight was virtually gone … it’s at least chaotic

My life as a fighter in the best organization on the planet ends here. I will not be sad or upset by it, the day will come to everyone. I’m standing with my head raised. God is my Redeemer, my children and wife are my treasures. The battle only gives those treasures and asks for a little vision as a payment. Transactions I make 100% of the time.

Thanks to my fans, coaches, family and everyone who participated in this process. Who knows what’s coming next to Kearney … But I can tell you what it is not.

Love, Kani @ UFC # UFC257

Lenz (30-12-2, 1NC) has fought professionally since 2005 and has won 30 times. “Kearney” was known for his tenacity in the battles he won and the battles he lost. He received three Fight of the Night honors and one Performance of the Night honor. Not surprisingly, he cites serious eye injuries as the main reason for his retirement from MMA sports.

Lenz has fought 25 times in the UFC Octagon, and the 36-year-old has retired from a skid who lost three games.
