Nintendo Switch OLED specifications are the same as the original – 4K is not possible

Internal hardware The Nintendo Switch OLED is exactly the same as the original model, despite previous rumors.

The Nintendo Switch OLED surprise announcement came out of nowhere, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that this isn’t the Switch Pro that’s been so widely rumored in the last few months.

Rumor has it that many things were rightly understood, such as the dock’s LAN connection and the big screen, but the Switch OLED isn’t as powerful as the original Switch or Switch Lite.

Nintendo confirmed this exactly and told The Verge that “the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) does not have the new CPU or RAM from the previous Nintendo Switch model.”

Almost all rumors about the Switch Pro have stated that it will use the new DLSS technology when docked to output in upscaled 4K resolution.

However, this is not the case with Switch OLEDs, which do not offer new resolution options in either docked or handheld mode. Also, the lack of new hardware does not improve the performance of existing games.

Ignoring rumors, it’s common for Nintendo to release minor handheld power upgrades, from Game Boy Color to the new Nintendo DS, but that’s not what Nintendo OLED is.

The obvious question now is whether there is a second new model that has more powerful hardware but will be released at a later date.

It’s impossible to know at this point, but at some point Nintendo will have to replace the switch with either a tentative upgrade or a complete replacement, and it’s clear that the switch’s OLED is neither of them. ..
