NY Times Appoints Matiash as Senior Editor of Digital Migration Strategy

Chelsea Matthiash, Participants New York Times The 2018 newsroom and development team officially became part of the leadership team after being promoted to senior editor of digital migration strategy.

In this role, Matthiash continues to move forward with a visual-focused editor’s pod, expanding the strategic focus of her work by partnering with products in the development of new tools.

Matiash also worked as an adjunct professor at The King’s College and was a senior photo editor at The Intercept. She is also the Deputy Multimedia Editor of Time Magazine and has worked as a producer at the Eddie Adams Workshop.

She was also a photo editor at The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, and Sun-Sentinel, South Florida. She was also a photographer / videographer at Sun-Sentinel, South Florida. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of Miami Hurricanes.

Matiash has also worked as a photography and design intern at Straus Newspapers.

Matiash is a graduate of the Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Media. She is also a board member of the Newswomen’s Club in New York and previously a member of the board of directors of the National Press Photographers Association.

Matiash holds a bachelor’s degree in communication, visual journalism, and art history from the University of Miami.
