Occupancy rate decreased by 31.8% year-on-year

According to the latest STR data up to January 16, the weekly hotel occupancy rate in the United States has returned to 40%.

January 10-16, 2021 (rate of change from the same week in 2020):

•• Occupancy rate: 40.1% (-31.8%)
• Average Daily Fee (ADR): US $ 89.39 (-31.9%)
• Even number per available room (RevPAR): US $ 35.85 (-53.6%)

The red line is 2021, the black is 2020, the blue is the median, and the dashed light blue is 2009 (the worst year since the Great Depression of hotels before 2020).

Even if occupancy rates rise to 2009 levels, the hotel will still be hurt.

Seasonally, business trips are expected to begin to recover in the New Year, but not so much in early 2021.
