Orosunde scores first senior goal at Everton FA Cup – Soccer Sports

Matthew Orosunde nodded on his third round FA Cup trip to Everton at Rotherham United and wasn’t disappointed with the EFL Championship side.

Orosunde scored his first senior goal at the club level and performed well at Goodison Park. Immediately behind, the US men’s national team helped raise the Mirrors level on Merseyside after getting off to the Premier League host early.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team came forward early as Cenk Tosun scored a goal in the 9th minute, but that was the only goal Toffee scored in the 45th minute. Orosunde got well from a full-back position and counterattacked with a clever finish after half-time.

The New Jersey native squeezed a low shot into the lower left corner past Robin Olsen for diving. Since arriving in July 2020 after his release from Manchester United, it has been his first goal at the club’s senior level.

Everton thought he stole Thailand in the 86th minute when Tosun scored the second goal of the match, but VAR excluded the finish for offside.

Olosunde has been a consistent player at Rotherham United this season, scoring three assists in 12 league appearances ahead of today’s FA Cup match.

After finishing 1-1 to 90 minutes, the team headed for overtime.
