Due to some Outriders issues at launch, People Can Fly is giving out a thank-you package to cover any issues you may have faced.
According to the developers, there were some issues with the connection on the launch weekend Outrider (Thank you, OP on a large scale).
According to People Can Fly, this issue is due to an externally hosted database that only occurs under extreme load.
“After working on Outriders for over five years, we were just as disappointed that the launch weekend didn’t go as planned,” said People Can Fly. “There was a connection problem. [but] Our team worked on Easter weekends and 24 hours a day to solve server problems players are experiencing.
“We fully understand how frustrating this experience can be, especially given the sheer number of players who are eager to launch. We had enough server scaling capacity, but externally. The hosted database had problems that only occurred under extreme load.
“In fact, I was debugging a complex issue as to why some metric calls brought down an externally hosted database. This issue did not occur when the demo was launched earlier this year.
“Through all this, we really appreciate all your messages of support and encouragement, and they helped us empower and improve the situation.
“We would like to thank each of you, but not only that, but we also want to make sure we are working on a small thank you package for the launch window player. We are still working on that exact detail. It is working.”
Basically, all players who played between March 31st and April 11th are eligible for the Thanks Package. It also applies to players who are outside the window but whose developers perform an automatic inventory wipe restore.
The highest level characters will receive the following in the package: Legendary weapons suitable for the level, amount of titanium suitable for the level, and emotes “frustration”.
That said, People Can Fly said details are subject to change based on what is technically feasible. The team also decides when the package will be delivered.
Meanwhile, the Outriders team is working on improving the game. You can expect some rebalancing of crash and matchmaking issues, restores, inventory wipe patches, bullet skills, multiplayer stability, connectivity and more.
The patch will be rolled out today on PC and PlayStation platforms, enabling cross-play between platforms. The Xbox update is a bit late, but it’s being released.
