Who. Thursday or Wednesday is one thing, like “Wow! Friday! … … wait …”. Yesterday I had such a Monday. I think I’m really ready for this vacation coming. Well. Something that helps you arrive early that Friday is to listen to some game podcasts. Anyway, I’m sure everyone can use the break from holiday music. Today’s dials include the following:
Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 217 Cthulhu Wars: Duel
To tell you about the unreleased Petersen game, there is a special episode released today. Many of you probably know their successful kickstarter from 2013, called Cthulhu Wars. Today, Petersen Games has released a two-player version called Cthulhu Wars: Duel. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to play it before the release. This is a fun and fast miniature style game where you are racing to be the first person to score 30 victory points. However, while easy to play, there are strategies and tactics each turn, always thinking about what to do next. Opponent movements can change plans significantly and even adjust the overall strategy.
This game includes standing passengers, which is a plus in my opinion. It keeps costs down and makes it easier to access. You can always upgrade your components later, but it’s a great way to try this out and decide if it’s the right game for you.
Many thanks to Petersen Games for sharing our thoughts with a copy
Dungeon Lord Episode 45: Fantasy Grounds, Mature as a Gamer, Building a Joint World
In Episode 45, we’ll start by updating the online game thru during a pandemic and talk about the software we use in the game, Fantasy Grounds on Steam. The gang is then asked by the listener about maturing as a role player. It used to be fun to fight and discuss in-game, but getting along and working together isn’t that fun. The show then concludes with a discussion about collaborative world building and how to inject the energy needed into a group showing lockdown fatigue.
