Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is an action simulation that promises a unique perspective on Japanese mythology. The game is heading to Nintendo Switch this month in both physical and digital formats. Fans who want to stay ahead of the curve can pre-order now.
Developed by Astebreed Studio Edelweiss, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin combines a side-scrolling platform with elements of harvest simulation and Far Eastern scriptures.
The player takes on the role of Sakuna, the goddess of harvest. Sakuna was banished from the House of Heaven to the wilderness of Hinoe Island, infested with untouched demons. With her guardian Tama and a group of exiled humans, the heroine must overcome the elements, defeat hordes of monsters, and grow the landscape.
Sakuna: A special edition of Of Rice and Ruin can be pre-ordered for collectors. The Golden Harvest Edition is a boxed release that bundles a 132-page art book, a 3-disc soundtrack CD collection, and a double-sided poster.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, published by Marvelous Europe, can be pre-ordered at the Nintendo eShop prior to its launch on November 20th. The standard version costs £ 34.99 and the Golden Harvest version has a suggested retail price of £ 49.99.
The game was released the day PlayStation 4 hit the Switch, and as of November 10th, a digital release on Windows PCs is already available.
