update: After the update, in addition to the Steam and console versions of the game, the Xbox PC app Halo Infinite Multiplayer is now playable.
Halo Infinite’s multiplayer was released early today, but if you’re trying to play it now, the Steam version seems to be the only platform currently running the game.
Halo Infinite will be released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S in addition to PC, and you can choose to play it on either the Xbox PC app or Valve’s digital distribution platform Steam. At the time of writing, I can “pre-install” the game in the Xbox app or Xbox console on my PC, but the file size is about 200MB and it doesn’t seem to start properly.
On the other hand, if you want to play on Steam instead, you can install the game with a file size of about 26GB. I tested the Steam version and was able to easily participate in a quick match.
The Xbox has a similar blue screen issue, but restarting the console pushes an update to the hardware that allows you to bypass the blue screen and log in to Halo Infinite Multiplayer.
In addition to the Xbox hardware and PC releases, Halo Infinite will also be coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming, but at the time of writing, the cloud version doesn’t seem to be available (yet). Halo Infinite Multiplayer was released early and was highly anticipated following a technical preview, Official Halo account Fans should be “patient” as the team always tries to solve the problem.
