According to TSN’s Darren Dregger, Buffalo Sabers defenseman Casey Nelson is the only player to opt out of the 2020-21 NHL season.

As part of the agreement between the NHL and the NHLPA this season, every player or coach had the option to opt out and was not punished. Players and coaches were able to take advantage of this option during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The deadline for players from seven teams (Sabers, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings) who did not qualify for the Stanley Cup last season was 5 pm. Past Thursday.

The deadline for players on the 24th was 5 pm ET on Sunday.

The 2020-21 NHL season will begin on Wednesday, January 13th.
