Road reflectance survey begins in Queensland

The Australian Road Research Commission (ARRB) is currently working on a project to test roads throughout Queensland in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (TMR).

An annual test against TMR is done to measure the reflectance of both the centerline and fog lines of the closed road network in Queensland.

The main goal of the annual line marking reflectance survey is to improve the reflectance of the Queensland road network, reduce the risk of network crashes, and identify the readiness of the network of connected self-driving cars. ..

As one of ARRB’s biggest projects, a line reflectance vehicle is being used to perform the test, as is the new RetroTek-D unit used in the second year.

The data collected from the project will be used with the Transport Trunk Bureau’s existing asset status plan and ARRB safety risk score to draft the 2022/2023 Speaking Program.

Queensland had an unwanted record of deaths on the most roads in 2021.

According to data from the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), travel restrictions, blockages and reduced traffic have increased 1.4% to 1126 dead country road tolls in the 12 months to 30 November. I didn’t stop.

Queensland had the highest death toll of 291 in the first 11 months of the country, with the highest total in the state for at least five years.

Last year, more than 50 truck drivers died on Australian roads.
