Roberto Carlos Career Free Kick, Visualization – Soccer Sports

Roberto Carlos was an important part of real Madrid He formed a team for over a decade from 1996 to 2007, during which he won four league titles and three Champions League titles.

While known for the average strike of the ball from set pieces, his best attribute was left back, but he moved forward.

We teamed up with soccer analyst Marius Fischer, known on Twitter as @ Gegenpressing91, to use magic in Microsoft Excel to plan all the free kicks scored by Brazilians.

Marius says:

“Whenever we talk about the’best free kick’in history, someone will come up with this:

“1997 Tournois France-France vs Brazil. Roberto Carlos on the left back prepares for a free kick about 30 meters away from the goal. He retreats about 8 meters away from the ball and of the ball. Start the trademark approach run.

“He hit it on the outside of his left foot, giving the ball an absurd curve that was at least 1 meter to the right of the goal, with only a right turn towards the right corner of the goal.

“It wasn’t just the curve that made this free kick famous. It was a simple fact that Carlos took this and all other free kicks on the outside of his foot to make a curve like his right foot. ..

“A rare technique to date.

Like most free-kick takers, Carlos made a lot of hits that got in the way, but when he found behind the net, they were usually absolutely spectacular.
