Antonee Robinson first facilitated the road to folds in the Premier League flam, but has since become one of the more consistent players in the London-based side backline.
Robinson continued to impress Scott Parker’s team on Saturday, helping his host score a scoreless draw with Southampton at Craven Cottage. Since his move from Wigan Athletic, Robinson has pushed Joe Bryan back on the bench to take the lead in this season’s position.
The 22-year-old has made 12 league appearances in the club, including 11 rows dating back to early October. Robinson is confident that he has helped Fulham score points in five of the last six league games.
“That’s another point in the right direction,” Robinson said. Postmatch said.. “I think I played really well tonight and kept everything I needed. Even the VAR decision was on the defensive line. It’s still one point, it’s a clean sheet, so I’ll build from it. “
“We did everything we worked on in the training and prevented them from getting a good chance, and we did it tonight. They did it. [Southampton] On the positive side, the opportunities are limited and I think it was a great performance. “
After becoming one of the top performers at Wigan Athletic last season, Robinson showed a quick learning curve in his first crack in the Premier League. The speedy left back was not only a threat to Fulham’s attackers, but was also able to hold himself against some of the top attacks in this season’s division.
Sunday’s Stuart Armstrong, Theo Walcott and Shane Long tests were done in one shot by Fulham’s backline. This is another good result for the club, which drew one-on-one with defending champion Liverpool on December 13. Robinson went well on the go and sent three passcuts, one foul and five crosses to the box. His stoptime cross is where Alexander Mitrovic crosses the net.
The US men’s defender will quickly show why some teams were interested in his service earlier this year and aim to help Fulham make this good run in 2021.
“We recently played some good teams, and we kept ourselves and got some decent results, so now we turn those results into wins. I think we’ll get started, “Robinson said. “I think we have to keep believing that we belong.”
“To be able to go up and down the field, it must be the baseline for this league,” Robinson said. “That’s what builds my game, drives the wings, and helps the team at both ends of the field. I think it worked tonight, but ultimately it’s done every week.”
Fulham is in 18th place, clearing one point of safety for his December 30th date with London rival Tottenham. This will be another powerful test for Robinson, who will face Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, one of the league’s deadliest offensive duos. But after helping to keep Fulham undefeated, the goal is to stay confident and calm.
“All points are important in this league, so it’s important not to lose without winning the game,” Robinson said. “The effort we’re spending to stay in the league is so great that we need to keep doing the same thing more in every game.”
