RPS Advent Calendar 2020, December 2nd

As a year, I felt that 2020 was about 25 years long.Maybe it was all the fault World eventsHowever, video games were also involved in distorting our sense of time. Which is your favorite game behind the second door of the Advent calendar? Click below to find out.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2!

Corum: The biggest compliment I can give to THPS 1 + 2 is that it will be reproduced as well as my original memory. And that alone is good reason to be considered one of the best in 2020. Because, as the Lord knows, developers have tried to regain that magic over the last decade or more, most often falling on the first rail. Have you played Tony Hawk’s ProSkater HD since 2012? I … Jesus Christ, I thought poor Anthony would never recover from it.

Revisiting these more lustrous versions of the hangar and School 2, with Zack de la Rocha screaming, was already enough to bring me back to a simpler era, but Vicarious to include a return and wall planting. Neither of the Visions decisions appeared in the series. Later – Inspired. This means that in addition to being able to manually move the stage from the original pro skater, you’ll find new combos that weren’t possible before. You can go against the real limits of these levels that you thought you knew inside out.

One of the best additions to this reworked package is a challenge that spans both games. The map includes Kickflip TC’s Roof Gap, Ollie The Magic Bum, and other goals you know and love, but you can also achieve big goals to unlock the skater’s new look and board. .. The perfect excuse to go again. And then another one.

Playing Tony Hawk’s ProSkater 1 + 2 reminded me why I couldn’t fully participate in the simpler skate games that came after THPS. I want big stupid moves, ridiculous combos, and floating gold letters. It’s a skateboarding game for me.

Jake: I want to get my time machine back to meet myself at the age of 11. We’ll show him how far the game has progressed in 2020 so we can get a glimpse of this year’s cutting-edge releases, including Tony Hawk’s ProSkater 1 + 2 and the new Crash Bandicoot game.

To be honest, the skate game was the coolest thing we had in the early 2000s, so I think he had a little hard time seeing the old Anthony Hawk still kicking it. But it’s been a long time since the last really good one, and personally, it was just as great as an indie like a skate game or OlliOlli, but I missed a pro skater fix.

Tony Hawk’s ProSkater 1 + 2 is better than it should be. By collapsing mechanisms like manual return from Pro Skaters 3 + 4, the Vicarious Visions team created one of the biggest hits in the Pro Skaters series. All the iconic maps are there and are newer and shiny than you can remember. They’ve added new songs to the soundtrack, and while it may sound like tinkering with perfection, new acts like Machine Gun Kelly and Viagra Boys fit the mood perfectly.

What THPS1 + 2 absolutely nails is special to skating as a subculture. Skating is wonderfully comprehensive for all its dangers, its punk attitude, and its followers who are cooler than you. If you go to skateparks around the world, you can see older skateboarders teaching beginners, tweaking pristine boards and lending tips on the best ways to fall. This sense of unity and inclusion can be seen in the opening cinematic of the game. The new choices for skaters are incredibly diverse, and even the original cast appears as the current middle-aged form. Everyone is welcome. Be motivated to fail over many times until you land the board, the tape cassette of the new Papa Roach album, and the first trick.
