Hubble snapshots of the “melting ring” galaxy drive new research

In this image, a distant galaxy is greatly enlarged and distorted due to the influence of the space distorted by gravity. After publication, astronomers used this photo to measure galaxy distances of 9.4 billion light-years. This puts the galaxy at the peak epoch of star formation in cosmic evolution.

In this particular snapshot, there was a scientific discovery following the release of Hubble’s observations of an impressive example of deep-space weather called the “Einstein Ring.” This photo was released in December 2020 as an example of one of the largest, almost complete Einstein rings ever seen.

With NASA European Space Agency (ESA) Samples Mars rocks and other materials collected by NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover and stored in sealed tubes, with the aim of returning the sealed tubes to Earth. We are solidifying the concept of return missions.

According to the current concept, NASA will deliver a Mars lander near the Jezero Crater, where Perseverance (left) collects and caches samples. The sample search lander (right) carries a NASA rocket (Mars rising vehicle) and an ESA sample fetch rover (center), which is about the same size as the Opportunity Mars rover. The fetch rover collects cached samples and transports them to the lander for transfer to the ascending vehicle. Additional samples can also be delivered directly by Perseverance. The ascending vehicle then launches a special container that holds the sample in orbit on Mars. ESA puts the spacecraft in orbit around Mars before the ascending vehicle is launched. The spacecraft rendezvous with orbiting samples, capture them, and then return them to Earth. NASA provides the orbiter with a capture and containment payload module.

Lucy mission launched to study Trojan asteroids

Violent and chaotic gas and dust lumps can be seen in this Hubble Space Telescope Image of a nearby supernova remnant. The object, labeled N 63A, is the wreckage of a giant exploding star that has already ejected its gas layer into turbulent areas.

Supernova remnants have long been thought to cause episodes of star formation when an expanding impact encounters a nearby gas. The N 63A is still young, and its ruthless impact is destroying the surrounding gas clouds rather than collapsing them to form stars.
