10:00 am: January NAHB Home Builder Survey.. The consensus is 84 reads, unchanged from 84 in December. A number above 50 indicates that more builders consider the sales situation to be better than bad.

7:00 AM ET: Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Mortgage Purchase Application Index..

8:30 am: Housing begins December.

This graph shows the start of detached and condominiums since 1968.

The consensus goes from 1,679,000 SAAR to 1,655,000 SAAR.

Daytime: AIA Architecture billing index December (leading indicator of commercial real estate).

Existing home sales10 am: Existing home sales From the National Association of Real Estate Agents (NAR) in December. The consensus is 6.45 million SAAR, down from 6.46 million.
