Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s game designer, producer and director, recently participated in an interview with New Yorker about how he wants to create a friendly world, the kids who played Sega games, his career and much more. We talked about an interesting topic. Miyamoto also touches on how he instilled rules in children when thinking about how long they would play video games.
Mr. Miyamoto noticed that children are having a hard time quitting the game, “I feel like children can’t quit because the game is so much fun. That’s something I can understand and sympathize with, for example. It’s important for parents to play games to understand why their kids can’t quit until they reach the next savepoint. For my own kids, they always have a good relationship with video games. I was lucky in that I was there. I didn’t have to limit them or rob the game. “
Shigeru Miyamoto goes on to explain how his children played Sega and Nintendo games, shedding light on the field of his home. “It’s important to note that in our home all video game hardware belonged to me. The kids understood that they were renting these things. There was an understanding that I could get rid of the machine from them if they didn’t follow the rules. [Laughs.] Whenever the weather was nice outside, I advised him to play outside. By the way, I also played a lot of Sega games. “
And their choices were Outrun and Space Harrier, especially for those wondering what the Sega game is. Interestingly, when asked if it would make him jealous, Miyamoto replied: [Laughs.] “They liked what I made because I wasn’t jealous enough to try harder.”
