Gaming Peripheral brand SteelSeries has announced the acquisition of KontrolFreek. The KontrolFreek name will survive the sale and the company will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of SteelSeries.
KontrolFreek is best known for its controller-enhancing thumbsticks and controller grips, with theme products that allow gamers to customize their controller after their favorite game. The company targets console players with accessories available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S. We also sell a variety of cables, along with RGB lights to customize your game station.
With much of SteelSeries’ existing product range focused on PC gamers, the acquisition of KontrolFreek will give us an edge in console players when four new consoles are released to the market.
“With next-generation consoles at the forefront of the gaming industry, there has never been a better time to maximize our ability to provide console gamers with the best gaming experience and products,” said SteelSeries CEO Ehtisham Rabbani. Stated. SteelSeries also released PS5 and Xbox Series X / S compatible headsets earlier this year.
The acquisition is the second SteelSeries of the year, following the April acquisition of A-Volute, creator of Nahimic AI-based audio technology.
