If Battle Royale-injected block spinning still doesn’t suit your taste in Mario, unlock the new Super Mario All-Star theme for Switch Tetris 99 this weekend as part of Nintendo’s latest limited-time Grand Prix. An event that has a chance.
Surprisingly, Super Mario All-Stars inclusion only marks the second Mario crossover of Tetris 99-Super Mario Bros. themes can be unlocked with in-game currency-add new themes to the collection Those who want to do so can do so from 7am this Friday, December 4th.
Part of Nintendo’s ongoing celebration of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., the event is the 18th Grand Prix at Tetris 99 since its launch in February last year and Tuesday, December 8th. It lasts until 6:59 pm.
Normal rules apply to this latest event. This means that players will earn points in each round based on their position at the time of defeat, and players who score a total of 100 points will receive the Super Mario All-Star theme used in Tetris 99. Permanently.
Of course, Super Mario All Stars can be downloaded and played as part of Nintendo’s Switch Online subscription service. The 1993 SNES edit was also nice, with two very different versions of the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros. 2, just as Nintendo didn’t use them.
