Supply chain challenges disrupt equipment sales

US tractor and combine sales fell for the second straight month in April.

Curt Blades of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers states that the decline in sales is not due to lack of demand. “It’s mainly due to supply chain issues,” he said. “If you’re driving in a dealer lot, you’ll see that we don’t have a lot of new or used equipment in stock. I think there’s certainly demand.”

He says there was growth in the brownfield in the two-wheel drive segment of over 100 horsepower. “This shows some real optimism on the farmland about what the agricultural economy will look like in the coming months,” said Blade.

According to Blades, good weather and a good harvest year will create a positive outlook for future equipment sales.
