Technical robustness … how important is it to plan tactics and strategies?

Before you can develop tactics and game strategies, you need to already have the basics of the game. That way, you must inevitably be able to play deep enough. You can think of five basic things you can do to compete with your opponent.

• Play on the left

• Play on the right

• Play highball

• Hit your feet

• Play against your opponent

Strategy means developing, learning, and somehow “forcing” yourself into a concrete game system that allows you to face your opponent. For example, if you are a beginner, the rule is “play deep” and usually works on any surface as follows:

• Place your opponent behind the baseline

• The central net is lower than the sides, which reduces the chance of error

• Greater focus on hits

• Playing in the center makes it harder for your opponent to play diagonally

The difficulty is that playing in the center allows your opponent to go around the ball and hit hard with the best shot. On the other hand, if the shots are deep enough, you can also control the game and slightly target the weaker shots of your opponent. Unfortunately, most players can’t hit consistently from any position on the court, so worrying about strategy can complicate the game. In such cases, it is better to worry about hitting the ball correctly without thinking about the strategy.

Dominate the net with your first chance

It’s also important to be able to get online as soon as possible, given that playing in the middle for a long time must remain a fundamental aspect of your strategy. Intermediates often hesitate to play against difficult opponents in front of a short ball. Expectations are an important factor in the development of advanced players. In fact, it’s very likely that your opponent will shorten the shot at some point. Then you should be ready to anticipate this possibility and take advantage of the opportunities in the field. Tennis is a game of opportunity. The point must be closed if the opponent has a chance without hitting the ball back. What’s more, your opponent will know that you are ready to hit the net as soon as your opponent shorts. This puts more pressure on your opponent.

By percentage

If you look at the match statistics, you can see that virtually always the error is greater than the points. The goal of winning a match is to minimize errors. So it simplifies the strategy and keeps the ball safe, deep and central. Even if your opponent makes you difficult, playing reliable and deep shots on the net will help you avoid mistakes. Try the winner and get out of trouble. This is a bet, not a good one, not a percentage game. If you are winning, keep the same strategy and keep playing the way you are winning. The game can turn around if you try something else that you may not know how to do well. In the meantime, win the game. Try a new shot tomorrow.

When playing the right shot under pressure

The pressure should ensure that you make a solid shot. Instead, pressure “jumps” the entire biomechanical system of shot preparation and control. You are almost anxious, you know what to do, but you can’t do it. The result is a flimsy ball that your opponent can hit aggressively.

Play highball if you are in trouble

If you’re kicked out of the field during a rally, you’ll often hit in the hope of a winner, but you’ll make a mistake instead. The best way to gain time and regain position is to play the ball well above the net (2 to 3 meters). If he falls to the net, the opponent will be confident that you won’t let him play a simple ball. Therefore, a highball with a lot of topspin makes volley difficult. When you see your opponent catching the net, you can lift the ball further and play Rob. On the other hand, if he stays at the baseline, he has to wait for the ball to drop and loses his chance. Moreover, seeing even his best shot come back undermines his confidence.

Break the rhythm of the other party

When playing against an opponent who shoots violently and with a rhythm, throwing a softball will make the opponent’s hit different. You don’t need a good game to win. For example, many players will not play the ball well if they deviate from the ideal batting conditions. In such cases, alternating short and low balls with the highball facing up will deviate from the natural rhythm of the player. The basic idea is to let the opponent perform the shots you don’t want to make.

Don’t let your opponent play the strongest shot

If your opponent’s forehand is very strong and your backhand is weak, do not allow them to win the game with the strongest shots. Try to anticipate his intentions and play primarily on his weak side. Otherwise, force him to play the shot better than usual. For example, if he plays a flat forehand, he plays a very low back. This is his strongest hit and invalidates his safety.

Play the cross court

In many cases, you tend to hit with the right to play a longline shot with your opponent’s backhand. For these reasons, it’s actually much safer to play crosses. The central net is much lower than the sides, the field is longer (25.15 meters diagonal to 23.77 along the line) and there is more time to regain position. Moreover, according to the law of reflection, it is easier to return the ball along its origin. There is almost no safety margin when playing long line shots. If the opponent plays in the backhand, the safest shot is the cross-court backhand. It’s a natural tendency of the body, only talented players can hit the ball straight, and unless the shot is fully executed, there is less time and space to cover to regain position.

Hit with purpose

More experienced players know that mistakes are always bigger than winners. This knowledge avoids throwing dangerous shots and supports consistent, purposeful and safe shots. At high levels it is difficult to find an open field to close a shot. What looks like an open field is open for only a moment. It’s much more important to hit the right shot at the right time, regardless of whether your opponent is out of position. Blows can generate points directly or easily close the next point.
