Teen prospect Peppy exchanges Dallas for Augsburg with a reported move of € 18 million – Soccer Sports

Promising US striker Ricardo Pepi has joined Augsburg from FC Dallas. The reported fee is € 18 million ($ 20 million) and an additional fee.

18-year-old Peppy was impressed by Dallas in the 2021 season, scoring 13 times in MLS.

The forward is also the youngest player to score in the US World Cup qualifiers and was previously linked to some of Europe’s top clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Ajax.

However, Peppy chose to move to Augsburg, which signed a talented teenager with a five-and-a-half-year contract, while retaining the option of extending it for another year.

This transfer represents Dallas’ club record deal as Peppy moved Alphonso Davies from Vancouver Whitecaps to Bayern Munich in 2018 as the most expensive home country player from MLS.

Peppy, who confirmed the contract on Monday, said: “My dream was to move to Europe after the end of the MLS season.

“FC Augsburg and the Bundesliga believe that I will prove the best environment for youth to practice the game at the top level.

“FCA Initiatives [Augsburg] The club officials put in to sign me were really impressive. As a result, I immediately felt that FCA was the right club for me.

“I can’t wait to meet my new teammates. I want to blend in with the team as soon as possible. I can’t wait to go!”

Augsburg sits just above the relegation zone on Germany’s top flight before resuming the Bundesliga campaign on a trip to Hoffenheim on Saturday.
