The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild NPC is an advanced Miis

Twitter user @HEYimHeroic has discovered that the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild NPCs are using an advanced version of the Mii format.

According to @HEYimHeroic, this discovery means that players can inject selected Miis through mods. The title uses what’s called UMiis, which has almost the same parameters as the Miis on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U systems, with some minor differences. The only major limitation is the fact that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does not support all Miis hairstyles.

Examples of this include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Barrett production, Wii Sports Matte, personal Mii Alice, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Gunner.

See the details in the tweet below.

First released in 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players control links to save Hyrule from Calamity Ganon’s hands. The title features non-linear gameplay with an open world that encourages experimentation.
