The One Game Awards reveal that they have been working for 2.5 years.

Geoff Keighley, host and creator of The Game Awards, claims that the show on December 9th will have a world premiere of “working with developers for 2.5 years.”

Keighley said in a tweet published Sunday that this was the last time he visited a developer in the summer of 2019 and visited studios around the world.

Last year’s show wasn’t filmed in front of a live audience due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the Game Awards 2021 is an event that will take place directly at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 9th.

The 8th edition of the annual event will be a major production featuring on-stage orchestras, celebrity guests, real awards, and many game releases.

Arkane’s Deathloop was nominated for nine awards, Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was nominated for six, and Hazelight’s It Takes Two and Double Fine’s Psychonauts were nominated for five awards each.

Candidates for the Game of the Year are Deathloop, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Resident Evil Village.

Last of Us Part 2 won the Grand Prize at The Game Awards 2020 and won seven of the ten nominated awards.

The 2020 show unveiled a restart of Perfect Dark and BioWare’s untitled Mass Effect game.
