Last month, Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama announced that he had set up a new company called Bokeh Game Studio with veteran game developers such as Gravity Rush and Last Guardian. Now I’ve learned more about Toyama’s first project, which should appeal to Silent Hill fans.
In an interview with Japan, Tomiyama said his new game will be an action-adventure game rather than a standard survival horror experience. But he said it would “appeal to fans” [his] Silent Hill clearly mentions “previous work”. The series has been on the ice for several years, and the joint Silent Hill project between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro was canceled in 2015. The demo PT has been removed from the PlayStation Store. The PS4 console on which it is installed is worth it.
“If anything, this will be a horror-oriented game,” Toyama added. “But we’re not focusing on hardcore horror games, but on making this a broader entertainment experience.”
The game wasn’t expected until around 2023 and has just recently entered the prototyping development stage. It’s going to be a multi-platform game, so expect to play it on at least PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
I’ve heard rumors about the resurrection of Silent Hill in Konami, but so far there’s nothing concrete about it. The company discontinued allegations that a revival was underway earlier this year, but has heard little else since then. Since Konami has no Kojima, there are few restarts of Silent Hill or PT, but we are certainly ready to re-enter the horrifying town.
