Early game prototypes are often full of amazing placeholders-for example, Star Wars Jedi: Look at the giant space Yoda in Fallen Order-but I really have hundreds of rubber ducks. One of the games I didn’t expect to find was a remake of Demon’s Souls.
Technical artist Colin Harris, who worked on the remake, shared a video on Twitter of a flock of ducks used to test the skill and effectiveness of the game. The ducks appear to be exploding from the table, and the fog is quite close to the birds …

Harris spoke to GamesRadar and explained that the duck model was created by his friend Alex, who was an intern at the Bluepoint Games. The model was eventually incorporated into the studio’s asset library, and when Harris was looking for a model to run a test demo, the size and shape of the duck meant it would fit the bill. “It didn’t hurt to see a bright yellow rubber duck sitting in a very detailed dark fantasy environment, which was an interesting juxtaposition,” he said.
The developers were clearly enjoying the ducks. Harris explained that they proliferated and eventually transformed into giant giant ducks like those found in Dark Souls, but had to remove the model to prevent accidentally slipping into the final product.
“We used it a bit as a placeholder mesh, but in the end, due to the internal popularity of the ducks, there is considerable concern (for good reason) that it might somehow advance to the finals. There is now a game. ” “So instead of taking the risk of damaging Sony’s reputation, I chose the nuclear option. It was fun for the rest of it and will live forever as one of my favorite game developer memories. . “
Of course, the news that a giant rubber duck was once in Demon’s Souls entertained fans and influenced some great artwork-check out this duck boss created by the Oracle of the Obvious on Twitter. please. Oh, what happened?
When I saw this, I first came up with it, so I created it immediately.

Sony has previously modified the Demon’s Souls trailer, which suggests that the game will be on PCs and other consoles, making it clear that the game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 (via Kotaku). But if that changes, the game will you do I would like to come to my PC and see the mod put the duck back in place.
