The Sims 4 has added over 100 skin tones

Earlier this year, Maxis told players that it would extend The Sims 4’s character creation tools to allow for more diverse sims. That effort has produced results today with some hairstyle improvements, as well as free updates that greatly expand the ability to choose skin tones and makeup colors.

This update adds an entire chunk of new skin swatches to Create A Sim, which falls into the Warm, Neutral, Cool, and other categories. The latter is for fantasy skin tones such as blue and green. You can adjust the brightness of each swatch to further adjust it to the color you are looking for and save a particular piece for later discovery.

Another factor that Maxis has said to investigate is the choice of make-up, which has expanded options. You can select the hue, saturation, brightness, and opacity of the make-up shade and save it just like the skin color. “We’ve locked some of the sliders that don’t provide the best experience or make makeup meaningless,” they add. “Please look forward to continuing to work on these issues and providing more.”

Some hairstyles have also been updated. The kids’ braided ponytail style has two options, but the masculine flat top-up above has also been tweaked.

You can catch all the remaining update notes and bug fixes included in the update on the Maxis forum post. They did again Shouted Modulators and players who provided “candid conversations and constructive feedback” in a new update.

that’s all On twitter, Maxis reiterated its intention to continue similar updates. “We are working on making significant progress for all players and we are working on improving the in-game expression over the long term,” they say.
