There is a remake of the cult classic XIII Out, And it sucks!! It’s cheap, hurry, and it removes some of the only things people liked about the original: its bold cell shade comic book art style. So, both publishers and developers, I’m sorry only now after everyone pans the game.
In a joint statement issued on the publisher’s Microise site, PlayMagic, both they and the developers, said (my emphasis):
The long-awaited remake of XIII, which many fans have been waiting for, was announced earlier this week. Unfortunately, the launch version hasn’t lived up to player expectations and has clearly heard legitimate criticism and disappointment.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for any technical issues with the game. In its current state, the XIII does not meet quality standards and is well aware of player frustration. Pandemics have influenced game production on many levels. Pivoting your team to work from home causes unexpected delays in your development schedule and QA process. We wanted to be able to provide a DayOne patch that fixes all the issues, but the development of this update is taking longer than expected.
I want to ensure that PlayMagic is working hard to solve all the problems in the game. With live monitoring and multiple patches over the next few days and weeks, we hope to reach the quality levels you expect for an optimal gaming experience. The first update will be pushed shortly to fix the most urgent issues with controls, frame rates, collisions, rendering and sound. Follow the links below for upcoming patches.
In addition, I wanted to thank the community for all the feedback. We carefully review all comments and communicate bugs and issues to the development team. Feel free to send us your feedback and questions at: support_XIII@microids.com
Finally, know that you’re working on a detailed roadmap that highlights future free additions to game content, including new levels, weapons, skins, and modes for local multiplayer.
We aim to please all XIII fans and strive constantly to reach our goals.
Microise and PlayMagic team
Certainly there was no very important deadline, so blaming the pandemic is pretty weak Had This will be a hit! There was an excuse that at least 2020 sports games are a bit lighter, But nobody I was requesting a remake of Shooterland in 2003 this quarter or otherwise. If the pandemic is causing an “unexpected delay”, delay the game.
Anyway, I said last week, you can Still buy the original for pocket replacement, This seems like a much better way to play the game than waiting for this to somehow not get worse.
