Drive to Survive has been popular with Netflix since it was first launched in 2019 and has helped bring new fan rafts to F1 with unmatched behind-the-scenes access.

Haas team boss Steiner has become a fan favorite throughout the first two seasons of Drive to Survival, especially for his candid attitude and interaction with the driver.

Steiner is an important part of the third season released by Netflix on Friday morning. The accident of former Haas driver Romain Grosjean at the Bahrain Grand Prix is a major story later in the season, focusing on the entire episode.

Steiner hasn’t watched any of the three drive-to-survival seasons yet and refuses to watch them, but says he’s okay with how Netflix delivered the story and can make the event as much as possible. He said it was the filmmaker’s job to make it dramatic.

“We know the filmmakers, they then do the best they can-it’s pretty obvious,” Steiner told Motorsport.com.

“I’m not with critical people because I don’t know how much they’ve been played. I don’t know how they managed things. So I don’t have much opinion about it.

“It’s well known that movie people always try to get the most out of it so that viewers can enjoy it. We have to do it and with it You can live.

“I didn’t hear that it wasn’t really true unless the story was completely wrong. It might be a little sensational, but otherwise it’s not much in principle. I don’t think it has changed. At least that’s the way I understand it. “

Due to COVID-19 restrictions from F1 to 2020, Netflix film crews had to join certain teams on race weekends and bring them closer to the subject.

Steiner said the interaction with the Netflix crew was so seamless that they forgot that they were filming him and became part of a wider team.

“They were just integrated into the team over the weekend,” Steiner said.

“It’s a little different this year. It seems to me. The mic is on top and you may not notice it, but otherwise you can know exactly when it was shot and when it wasn’t.

“The only thing they sometimes do is get a mic so they have better audio, but you know exactly what they’re doing-there No surprises.

“It behaves unnoticed after a while. It becomes a part of everyday life. So it’s okay. Everyone is a very nice person. I’m just working.”
