Tomb Raider 2013 was originally a horror game – what this looked like

Hardcore tomb Raider Fans already know that the reboots they got in 2013 originally took a very different form. That is, Tomb Raider: Ascension, a blend of Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and Resident Evil. Information and footage from Ascension has been on the Internet for years. And now that the developers have officially released a fairly high quality prototype gameplay, you can see what happened.

The roots of Tomb Raider 2013 are clearly here. It’s very similar to the sequence of Lara going through a flooded cave, picking up a torch and opening a reboot. And, of course, she is bowing. But if you look at the monsters she’s fighting for, the difference is immediately apparent.

The creatures appear to be quite upset, with an elongated shape and eerie teleporting abilities, like a silent hill and look like a house. Look at Lara, the mansion that repels zombie waves with a flamethrower. Next, Lara escapes a giant monster and a horde of other enemies and rides a bit as the big boss fights in the swamp.

Many of these gameplay features have long been known and Some of this footage was previously available online., But this is still great to see it in higher quality from easily accessible official sources.

You can head to Tomb Raider’s official YouTube channel A much earlier development video of the game, released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the series. For more modern ones, you can check some Future PC games At that link.
