The Portland Trail Blazers today announced the addition of Neil Everett to the broadcast team from the 2021-22 season.
Everett will be the TV studio host for pre-match, pre-match, and post-match coverage of most Trail Blazers Road games.
Originally from Portland, Everett has strong ties to the Pacific Northwest. After graduating from high school in Spokane, he attended Willamette University in Salem and transferred to the University of Oregon for a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. Everett joined ESPN as an anchor for ESP NEWS in July 2000 and is the generic name for SportsCenter, continuing to anchor the late-night edition from Los Angeles.
“By bringing people with Neil’s knowledge and experience to the Trail Blazers, we can take television broadcasts to the next level,” said Chris, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter. McGowan says. “His personal connection with the Pacific Northwest, coupled with his expertise, will complement the incredible talent of our broadcast team.”
Prior to ESPN, he worked for 15 years at various Honolulu affiliates, most recently KGMB-TV, a sports director and a weekday anchor CBS affiliate. He was also an assistant athletic director and sports information director at Hawaii Pacific University.
“I’m happy to be part of the amazing broadcast crew of my home team,” Everett said. “We look forward to returning to the Pacific Northwest and working hard to provide great television broadcasts to the best fans in the Lip City League.”
