“(For me) it was to find the right property,” she said.

“I’ve been looking for it for a couple of months and I wasn’t in a hurry, but I was looking for it.

“I was so interested that I didn’t expect to win.”

Bidding began at $ 650,000 and rose steadily as a crowd of about 70 watched.

Vendors Vanessa Wilson and Simon Di Pietrantonio were excited about the sale, but said they were sad to leave the house where they raised their eight-month-old baby olives.

“We’ve been here for five years and it was perfect for us, first together and then to raise a family,” Wilson said.

“It’s really sad that we move on. The lifestyle is great, very diverse and vibrant. Every week we open a new cafe.”

The house has a sophisticated modern bathroom.

The second bedroom has become a nursery school.

The two said they “loved the bones” before remodeling the house into their own style. They are currently aiming for a larger size on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Jamil Allouche, director and auctioneer at Ray White Brunswick, said the property attracted more than 100 groups in its first open home, for a total of more than 300 stakeholders.

An open-plan living and dining room means there’s plenty of space to entertain.

The dining area faces a large deck.

“It worked very well. There were 14 confirmed bidders, but only 6 had the opportunity to raise their hands, and the young woman who bought the first house made the final bid. That’s great, “says Allouche.

“Currently, there are a few first homebuyers on the market and I think they are in effect.”
