The company that operates the Indiana Toll Road has a network of smart parking signs for truck drivers.
By combining sensors and cameras, according to the ITR Concession Company, dynamic signs provide truck drivers with an approximate number of available parking spaces along the roadway, creating a safer and more efficient travel experience. ..
The dynamic board details the number of parking spaces available at the three closest facilities, allowing truck drivers to adjust their travel plans on the fly.
Parking space availability is sent via the Truck Specialized Parking Services (TSPS) Osprey platform. The platform has access to modern parking spaces via the web, iOS, and Android applications.
“Our goal is to give commercial drivers the opportunity to plan their trips more accurately,” said Rick Fedder, COO of ITRCC. “This information helps reduce congestion in parking facilities while allowing drivers to make quality choices about when and where to rest.”
