TrueCommerce Expands Connection Network with Acquisitions of EDI and API Providers

Logistics connectivity provider TrueCommerce continues its strategy of increasing market share through acquisitions. Announced today and acquired DiCentral, A provider of application programming interface (API) connections between trading partners.

According to Pittsburgh-based TrueCommerce, the move will drive global network growth, deepen its solution portfolio and expand its global geographic footprint.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but TrueCommerce said the acquisition would double the number of employees to about 1,300.

According to TrueCommerce, the company’s technology supports digital supply chain collaboration and connectivity through both electronic data interfaces (EDIs) and API links, enabling users to increasingly complex supply chains and e-commerce. You can manage it, streamline operations, and increase profitability.

The company has grown rapidly since private equity firms Welsh, Carson and Anderson & Stowe (WCAS) acquired from minority investor Accel-KKR in 2020. Following that event TrueCommerce soon acquired B2B GatewayA provider of managed cloud service solutions for EDI and API connectivity between suppliers, manufacturers and retailers in Rhode Island.

Bring Texas-based DiCentral This adds 30,000 connections to TrueCommerce’s global commerce network, bringing the total to 160,000 connections, adding nearly 5,000 customers, and bringing TrueCommerce to a total of approximately 18,000 customers.

The wider network also supports the organic growth of TrueCommerce systems. The volume of messages on TrueCommerce’s platform increased by 41% in 2020 compared to 2019. According to TrueCommerce CEO John Fay, at the same time, retailers are now using more suppliers and selling more, including Magento, Shopify, and TrueCommerce’s own e-commerce storefront product, Nexternal. We sell those products through our stores.

At the same time, more and more suppliers are becoming direct sellers, as evidenced by a 96% increase in direct delivery activity on the TrueCommerce platform compared to 2019 in 2020, and the overwhelming retailer’inventory storage. It functions as a warehouse. These trends affect the entire enterprise, as TrueCommerce’s business foundation includes users drawn to three equal parts from the retail and consumer goods (CPG), industrial manufacturing, and other sectors.

TrueCommerce continues to ride the wave of these markets and believes it has plans for further expansion in the future. “We have new investors, and we will continue to make acquisitions in important ways,” Fay said.
