Finalists of the 2008 Australian Open have announced their withdrawal from the AO in 2021 as they continue to recover from their back injuries.
Due to continuous back numbers, Tsonga was limited to two games in 2020.
Former world No. 5 retired from his 2020 Australian Open opening against Alexei Popyrin due to back problems.

“Despite the big advances in the last few months, I still can’t play in the competition,” Tsonga tweeted. “Therefore, an agreement with the medical team will compromise the Australian Open this year.
“I’m looking forward to returning to the tennis court, but I have to be patient … I feel sad even if I don’t go to Australia this year.”
The 2021 Australian Open will take place from February 8th to 21st.
